Blowing My Own Trumpet...

This month I have received two of the loveliest emails, both thanking me for previous paintings. I thought I would share them in a post as they made me feel very proud as well as touched by their words. I also think that my paintings must seem strange to other people but these lovely testimonials explain so well what I try and do for people...

The woman whose anniversary it was in the photo above sent me this lovely email.

"Dear Kirsty

We want to thank you for the absolutely wonderful painting our daughter’s commissioned for our 40th Wedding Anniversary.  Both of us were speechless when we opened our present as we realised what we were looking at; and the more we looked, the more we saw.

We are so delighted with our gift, which now has pride of place on the wall, and words can’t really reflect the depth of feeling and thankfulness.

I understand all three of our daughter’s were involved and also my parents. We are amazed at how much the girls knew about ‘our history’. Apparently we are always talking about it!!

Your painting brought all the information together in a wonderful and witty way. And in absolutely the style we love. We are so grateful. Thank you!"

The family also sent photos of them opening their painting! I loved that.

I usually ask people if they can give me a couple of sentences as a testimonial to use on the website. The following email came from someone who commissioned me to paint a love story/wedding montage for their sister. Their testimonial was so much more than a quick recommendation, and a bit too long to use on the website page, so I thought I would post it here, you can imagine me squirming with pride at this one!

"I was lucky enough to stumble upon Kirsty through a Google search and went on instincts that she would be the right artist for me to commission a painting for my sister's wedding gift.

Her style speaks for itself and I just loved it - the colours, the way she interweaves things, the quirkiness of the shapes. Anyone reading this testimonial will know of her wonderful artistic talent so I won't labour the point.

What was equally as important for me was finding an artist who grasped my idea wholeheartedly and gave the personal touch. Kirsty certainly achieved this - she attacked it with gusto. In fact I think she ended up more enthusiastic than I was about the project.

Her preparation was meticulous. She insisted I send multiple photos and kept sending me several sketches so I could agree on them. She approached me seeking minute details like my nephews date of birth and weight so she could include them. I would never have thought of including them.

I honestly did not expect such attention to detail. I admit I was a demanding client and she had to tweak a few things throughout. She did this without a fuss. She even advised on frame colour and size.

All correspondence was through email and at the end I remarked that I had never built such a strong rapport with someone in a business transaction over email as I had with her. I think this is testament to Kirsty warm welcoming nature that even comes through via that medium.

The story that stands out most for me was when Kirsty sent me a sketch that included an element I has never mentioned in the brief. Wracking my brains I remembered I had sent her a fake magazine I had made of my sister's wedding as it was an easy way to supply her with lots of photos. Kirsty had evidently not just looked at the photos but had actually read the contents. Now I know most artists like to get close to their subject but this really shows she goes beyond the call of duty. It also shows that she has natural artistic flair and ideas of her own so anyone wishing to use her services should leave the brief somewhat fluid.

I hope anyone considering her skills realises how lucky they are to have stumbled upon her. Kirsty is a fantastic artist with extremely personal touch."
