Grrrrrrrrr! It's taken me all afternoon to paint in the lettering of just six book titles! Soooooo fiddly and annoying and difficult! Grump grump grump...x

I have had a friend to stay, so haven't painted for four days. It took a while to get back 'into the groove' today but I treated myself to painting in my red spotty scarf. Some things (like the drawers) are hardwork to paint, but for some reason a red spotty scarf is exciting! Maybe it's the big splash of red, or painting in the dots. I have also bought some new small paintbrushes so can paint in the book titles tomorrow...not sure yet if this will be fun or horrible!
Today I had to be brave and make a start on painting me - being a self portrait and everything! It feels a bit spooky when I'm staring back out at myself with a stupid half smile on my face, like the painted me is smirking at the real me! If she keeps it up I'm going to paint in extra wrinkles and chins.
One of my prized possessions is a little antique chest of drawers that once housed spanners and drill-bits, but which now stores a handy collection of art related ephemera. (in other words, all the crappy old scraps and tat I dont know what to do with.) Seeing as I'm including "a few of my favourite things" in this painting, it is going in. However it's quite hard and it's not filling me with the same joy that came with lovingly recreating my Harry Potter collection!
It's very relaxing painting your favourite books, I've been a bit dreamy today thinking about all the great writing on my shelf and how books seem to come into your life just when you need them. Not sure whether to tackle 'me' tomorrow or to do more of the background, bit scared of colouring me in incase it looks rubbish!! Also, every self portrait I've ever seen has a very serious face on, so now I am wondering if I should actually be looking a bit stare-y and intense instead? Opinions on this please!!!
You wouldn't believe how long it's taken me to paint a few book spines....but I had to get my Harry Potters looking just right! I haven't painted in the titles yet as my brushes are all too buggered and blunt, so I'm waiting get a new fine brush for that task. That's all for today!
Gosh, Hello, I have just discovered that my website comes with a blogging app. Oh, but that's not good, my thoughts are about as interesting as watching wet paint drying...so what to write? How about a blog about watching wet paint dry...!!??.I'm just going to post what comes out of the end of my paintbrush each day! So today's offering, having just been to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris and noticed that the great artists painted an awful lot of self-portraits, I am starting one of my own. Here it is (drying) after day one!
