A friend asked me to do a painting for her 10th wedding anniversary, so here it is along with the process of how it was created!
She started by sending me photos of herself and her family, and I asked her for a list of things that could be incorporated into a picture that had sentimental significance. Some of the things included trees, rainbows, pet cats, home and an extract from the story, "The Velveteen Rabbit" which was read out at their wedding.
I did a rough sketch and emailed it to her to see if I was on the right track...it was so I drew it out nicely and started colouring in!
I always start with the people as they are the trickiest and obviously the most important bit to get right...
I discovered that it was very enjoyable putting in the pet cats...so have decided to be a cat painter when I am an old lady
Once the background was in I just had to colour in the trees. I also put the couple's wedding rings entwined among the roots, and added Snowy, my friend's cuddly polar bear toy at the bottom of the tree. With the quote from the Velveteen Rabbit, the painting was done!
